RELEASE BLITZ for THE SHIFT! by Author Genevieve Scholl

Author Genevieve Scholl brings us another remarkable read. Help her celebrate by taking a look:

She is a small town girl with a heart for the country life. Very shy and pretty much a loner, but her writing helps her be more outgoing and talk to various people that she would otherwise have a hard time approaching. She doesn't write for the money or the fame, but rather to tell a story that needs to be told; whether that is her story or a character's story. As a lot of people know, from her various interviews, She started writing to express her anger and hurt over the bullying that she experienced in High School, but eventually she just realized that she loved to tell stories. She was born in Texas, grew up and still lives in Upstate New York, and wants to retire in Ireland.

Nothing about me is normal…

…but what exactly is ‘normal’? Just because I have two dads and no mom, my name is Elliot Marcus Smith even though I’m a girl, and I was born from a test tube…
Does that mean I’m ‘abnormal’?
I say no.

But the sudden abilities that have been appearing since I turned eighteen sure do. Wounds are healing quickly, my vision has changed, as has my strength, and my sensitivities to other people’s emotions have become severely heightened. Add all that to the fact that I have been forgetting moments of my day as if they never happened, and it’s obvious that something strange is happening to me.

But what? What am I becoming?

Author Bio:

A little about K.L Silver, the person
Raised in central Canada, K.L. left home and country at the age of fourteen to train for the Olympics at the National Academy of Artistic Gymnastics in Eugene, Oregon. From her unique perspective of a Canadian who’d lived in the United States (twice), she blogged the 2012 US election from start to finish. Often, her hard-hitting articles sparked conversations which garnered hundreds of comments.

She has won numerous awards for her writing and is a member of the Manitoba Writers’ Guild.
Her interests are far-reaching and eclectic, from erotica to politics, from true crime to country music, from word games to human nature. She equates yoga with sanity.

She would love to write a best selling novel. Next to that, she’s good with world peace. Namaste.

Author Amelia Black "Hot Coffee" Blog Tour!

AUTHOR AMELIA BLACK "HOT COFFEE" BLOG TOUR!
Amelia loves coffee (the sweeter the better!) and, as a corollary, oddly-shaped coffee mugs. She adores the company of others, though she considers herself less of a social butterfly and more of a social ladybug, spots and all. She eschews all sorts of organized education, preferring instead to learn by doing (or being done). She lives in Kansas with a male betta fish named Kirk.

When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?

I've been writing off and on since I was a teen but it wasn't till this year that I'd heard enough “You should publish!” to finally set about doing it.

How long does it take you to write a book?

Right now I write short stories (about 10,000 words) and quickies (2,000). They're written like stories in pieces – volumes and encounters that actually fit together and make a longer story. Especially the short stories. On an average good day, when I get a good chunk of time to write, I can put out about 8,000 – 10,000 words a day. If I have all day and stay focused I can get 2,000-3,000 words done an hour. Those days are rare though. So... if we take 5 volumes, which I have planned for my short stories, then it can take me around a week or two to finish writing a 50,000   word book.

What is your work schedule like when you're writing?

It is completely scattered but I try to write in bursts of a few hours. That allows me ample time to “get in the zone”.

What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?

When I'm going to devote myself to “writing time” I wear a specific oversized long sleeve shirt I call my “writing shirt”.

How do your books get published?
Right now I self publish on Amazon.

Where do you get your information or ideas for your books?
Sometimes I talk over ideas with friends but for the most part, if I'm being honest, they just pop into my head.

When did you write your first book and how old were you?

First full “story” was in my early twenties.

What do you like to do when you're not writing?

Eat. Hang out with friends. Read. Watch movies/tv.

What does your family think of your writing?

They love that I love what I do. They support me.

What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books?
That the stories are endless.

How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?

At this moment I have 6 short stories, 6 compilations, and 6 other quickies not currently in a compilation that are published but I've written many more that are slated for release. My favorite, the one that spoke to me the most, was actually a Sensations quickie that spurred the   idea for a Romance novel I'm currently working on.

Do you have any suggestions to help me become a better writer? If so, what are they?

Write. Don't be discouraged if you don't find instant success. Keep at it. Most of all talk to people! I especially encourage you to get involved in the writing world on social media – Twitter and Facebook. Those are your best allies.

Do you hear from your readers much? What kinds of things do they say?

This is a quote written in a comment on my Facebook page:
if you like her tweets, you will be overwhelmed with her stories. they are wicked good.
I mean kiss your friend good. you will not be disappointed.

Do you like to create books for adults?
Yes. Very much so!

What do you think makes a good story?

Depth. I think the characters have to have layers, a purpose. Description, too, but not the kind that's there only as a list. Fluidity of description, throwing in those necessary bits to make the characters feel alive in our minds.

As a child, what did you want to do when you grew up?

I wanted to be a psychologist and run a house for runaway girls. Or a real-life sorceress.

Here are my links and other information:

Wentworth College and the city around it is the setting for the Wentworth College Legends series. I write four encounters -four quickies- for each title and then publish them both individually and as a compilation.

My Website & PATREON:

I'm very excited to announce that my website/blog is now supported via Patreon. What does that mean? Well, to start with it means changes in the structure of how I do things and in how you can interact with my work. Don't worry... it's all good!
First off I'll be putting my quickies up on there - usually 2-3 new ones a week. Once I've posted enough in a series to warrant the next compilation published to Amazon (the # depends on the series & ranges from 3-5) I'll give it about a full month of being on my site before I upload it for publishing. Don't worry, the stories won't disappear from the site. They'll still be there. Once a compilation goes Live you'll be able to purchase it - though it won't be on KU (restrictions on epublishing work that's already been published in any form– even if it's free on a website).
There will be more than stories on the website, too. Blog posts. Poetry. Musings. Things like that will randomly appear. I think you'll find lots of fun things to keep you occupied and coming back to visit me.
Please, use the link below (or the one at the top right corner of this website) to find out all about the rewards you can get for supporting me as a patron.
Just to entice you, here's one of the rewards for becoming a patron (dependent on pledging a certain amount or higher per month). Entries into the monthly raffle. The more you pledge, the more entries you get!
The initial prize? A 2,000+ story written just for and sent to the winner.

If you like my writing wouldn't it be cool to own a story of your very own, a one of a kind?

Author Viv Drewa, "Midnight Owl" (Joe Leverette Mystery book #1)

Midnight Owl (Joe Leverette Mystery Boook #1)

When the dismembered body of a young woman is found Detectives Joe Leverette and Philip Marsden are assigned the case. After investigating the Port Huron, Michigan area where the six body parts were found there’s a twist in the case: The murderer goes after each individual who found the parts, one by one.

Leverette becomes interested in one of the women, Carole Sage, a sensitive, but because of the case he’s not able to take it any further. Everyone on the police force sees his infatuation, but Carole does not.

Each of the six witnesses has a dream about the murderer removing the particular body part they found the night. They are startled awake and hear an owl hoot three times. None of them want to reveal their dream to the detectives.

Carole sees the actual murder and each murder as it happens to the witnesses. The police chief, Billingsley, understands her ‘gift’ and sets up a sting to catch him. It fails and they have to regroup to think of something else. Two witnesses are dead and they don’t want a third to die.
This books is for 18+ due to the violence.

Author Viv Drewa Bio:

The Arts   are very strong on both sides of my family. My father’s side were the singers. All have such beautiful voices and from what I’ve been told has been strong all the up the family tree. Dad wanted to be an opera singer but after getting married, drafted to the army during the Korean Conflict, coming home and become a father to my late brother and me dashed his hopes. He did have the most beautiful baritone I ever heard. I can sing but I’m a tenor and always felt awkward that I had to stand with the men on the church choir. My daughter, Sofia, has a beautiful soprano voice.
Mom’s side were all storytellers. My first inkling was my grandmother who would make up stories to tell us when were little. She didn’t like the stories in the books so she told her own. My mom was also an excellent storyteller and poet. She won several contests for her poetry. I tried poetry but found I preferred writing stories. My daughter is also very good at this but she doesn’t want to write. She’d make a fantastic horror author, too! Maybe one day????

I knew, at age 9, I wanted to be a writer after reading James Robert Green’s “A Whistling Sword”. I was so fascinated by his storytelling and how he used an actual historical character, Genghis Khan, in this book. Everything I read previously were Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys so this was a real treat.

I was never able to start writing because I had no support and felt discourage even though I won awards for my work. It wasn’t until I had two mini-strokes in 2013 that I started. My doctor wanted me to play puzzle games and such so I asked him if writing would work. He said yes and “The Angler and the Owl” came to be.

Since then I’ve written “The Owl of the Sipan Lord”, a short story “From the Pages of Grandfather’s Life” which I’m planning on turning into a novella, and have just finished “Midnight Owl” (A Joe Leverette Mystery Book 1) which will be out Oct 10. This was originally going to be a trilogy but as I wrote more ideas came to me so it’ll be a series. How many books I don’t know, I’m sure I’ll think of more things to keep it going.

I took creative and journalism courses to help transition to fulfill my dream of becoming a writer. I worked as an intern for Port Huron's 'The Times Herald", and also wrote, edited and did the layout for the Blue Water Multiple Sclerosis newsletter "Thumb Prints."

I also write a blog promoting my fellow authors.

Oh I almost forgot! I love owls!!!

HERE ARE MY BOOKS:

The Owl of the Sipan Lord

Martin and Clare Montgomery worked as an archaeological team until Martin's accidental death at a dig they were working on in Peru. Clare swore she'd never go back, but after having a dream about the dig that didn't add up to the finds of the area, and the help of the Peruvian Pygmy Owl and a blue-eyed spirit, she did.

FROM THE PAGES OF GRANDFATHER'S LIFE

Story of a young man's escape from Russian ruled Poland in 1913.

A Series I have called: ASHTRAYS TO JAWBREAKERS:

Volume 1

No need to check your eyes or clean your glasses - the pictures on the front were made that way for a reason. A writer’s world is that blurred area between reality and fantasy. Most writers are never known for their works other than by their tight knit rings of friends or family. Sometimes a writer is never known because he or she is intimidated at the thought of rejection and scrutiny from their peers. A writer's life is never cut and dried. There are no vacations, lots of sleepless nights, distractions of every type and structure. All can be blamed on the characters in our heads fighting to get out.

Most people only have that one voice they pay attention to, but for a writer there may ten or twenty talking at one time. Writing is sometimes the only way to ease the peace. These eleven authors have put a lot into their stories. A lot of thought to get the right word in the right place to provide an accurate picture in your mind of what he or she wants you to see. There are only 26 letters in the alphabet, but put together right the possibilities are endless. We hope you enjoy the stories provided and they help you escape for a minute or two from your reality.

Volume 2

From the minds of some of the finest indie authors comes Volume 2 of Ashtrays to Jawbreakers. Blending fiction with poetry, light with dark and fact with fiction, this is a collection that travels the winding roads of literature. The stories and poems contained within offer a glance into different worlds - some familiar, some less so; but all of them with a twist.

Christmas Edition 2014

These stories run the gamut of emotions and genres, from outright horror to more subtle drama. With a recurring theme of Christmas, they present a multi-faceted viewpoint on the writer's take on the festive season.

Once again, we stand before you to offer our work for your pleasure. The stories contained in this volume, as in the others, have been written for you to read. They may at turns excite you, terrify you or make you think; that is our goal as writers. In keeping with the season, we are pleased to present new author Lorraine Carey in this volume.

Volume 4

The most powerful thing a person can do is to share their life with complete strangers. A writer does this by writing in a way to make your world fade. As an author progresses in their journey to becoming the best they can be, we like to think we are pulling you the reader along with us. This project is about that. Writers write so readers can read. That is the idea anyway. We do appreciate you the reader coming into our worlds for a few minutes. We hope what we have written will take you away from your day just long enough to forget about it.
Once again, we come before you to stand behind you, the reader, to invite you into our worlds that we have built or in some cases destroy. We hope you enjoy this edition as much as the others. Not read the others? They are available as well.

Volume 6

Once again, we come before you to stand behind you, the reader, to invite you into our worlds that we have built or in some cases destroy. We hope you enjoy this edition as much as the others. Not read the others? They are available free as well.
