Addiction Fighters Need Help!

Hello my name is Sandra Shrewsbury
I am the author of Outside the Addiction- A Mother’s Story. I also released my new book Aftermath of an Addiction on November 14th 2014. I want to spread awareness about drug addiction and what the signs are. If you can help someone early enough they have a better chance at changing their lives. The more information you have on addiction the better the results will be. Please never feel ashamed or alone because you are not. I hope to rea...ch many lives and hope that my books will help at least one family. The first book is my story and what my family went through. The second book Aftermath of an Addiction is based on a child’s view of living with an addict. What they go through is heartbreaking and we as adults must take a stand to protect them from this pain. One in 1,000 children have to deal with a parent who has an addiction and the numbers are growing. It is time to open our eyes and stop hiding in the shadows and help people become aware of the signs . My Addiction Fighter's and i spread drug addiction awareness by doing local events in and around our communities. I am in the process of setting up an event for this summer but it cost money to do that. All my proceeds from my series goes toward these events. My books are only .99 cents for e-books
6.98 for Outside the Addiction-A Mother's Story in paperback
8.00 for Aftermath of an Addiction in paperback.
Book three Breaking-Away ( The Final Chapter) will release sometime this summer.
For less then a cup of coffee you can help spread awareness of Drug Addiction to local communities and schools. You can help save someones life from this demon that is taking our loved ones from us. You can inform parents on what to look for and how to stop it before it's to late. I have 1,329 friends on my friends list if each of them bought an e-book for .99 cents we would raise $465.15 to go toward the cost of pamphlets on the signs of drug addiction, posters, rental tables, information sheets for parents, We also would have on site counselors for people wanting help.A information stand for families who are dealing with a child or sibling with an addiction. There is so much we want to add to these events but like i said it takes money and the help of others to get it done. So today i ask for each of you to open your hearts and help us fight this demon one step at a time. One person at a time and one family at a time. Thank you and God Bless!

Willow in the Wind

The wind will never cease to blow as long as the willow continues to grow. Underneath I sit and slowly breathe.
Living in the moment no time to grieve. Sun shines through the weeping limbs, My tears flow gently along with them.
I can't feel free knowing you are gone. My cage is this tree and I am, alone. Why, did you leave oh self of mine.
I needed you whole in this horryifying time. Losing ones mind is a scary thing. Letting go of me, I dont know what
tomorrow will bring. Yes, losing ones thoughts under a tree, I hope soon someone will come looking for what was me.

Judy's Insights

Insights By Judy - Chapter 1 - Maxine

Posted: 19 Feb 2015 10:58 AM PST
One of the most difficult parts of my depression has been the fact that it robbed me of 'choice'.  As a human being, the most hopeful part of life is the recognition that I have the ability to influence my life outcomes.  The idea that I can choose my path and influence my life experience is an extraordinarily powerful one.  The most creative and successful in our society create because they think they can.  If you don't have a belief in that most basic concept, then OF COURSE you can't. What depression does is make me believe that no matter what choices I make, I can't.  So back to my original statement...depression makes me believe that I don't have 'choice' because there is something basic 'wrong' with me.  And I 'can't' choose to stretch myself because I'm not capable.  Or because I'm a victim of circumstances. When I moved to Tennessee, I made a decision that I would work on changing that mind-set.  Because even though I was depressed, I had a track record of writing this blog.  And a concept of how that could lead to using the rest of my time on earth for advocacy. Which is a choice to plug into my personal power.

How have I acted on that?  I'm still writing.  And while the process of growing this is slow...it is happening.  I don't expect that it will be easy. And I don't pretend that I'm entirely certain that I know what success will look like.  I just know that if I choose to let people in to my thoughts about mental illness and how I cope there will be areas where I can be of influence.  Recently, I became aware of how what I write does influence other people.  A person who I viewed as already successful reached out to me and told me about his family experience with mental illness.  And what was shared was an extraordinary example of the impact of mental illness on life. So, I could see it even in the life of someone that I viewed as successful. Which confirms that mental illness has no respect for talent and success.  Mental illness happens to the influential.  And the regular person. And because this person and I are creating a relationship as a result of the "gift" we see in our connection...we are focusing on the possibility of partnership in advocacy.

So, what am I learning in this?  First, I'm learning...again...that anything is possible.  Life really is about how you view your circumstances.  And whether you choose to use circumstances to move forward or to give up. Depression has led me to give up many times. Today, I will choose to move forward. To reach out more. To be honest. To look for ways that I can influence. To fight the negative messages that depression leads to.  I have this awesome platform because of the most negative situation in my life.  Maxine is at the core. She started this for me. And basically, if I can help one person to survive the pit that is mental illness, I will have been successful.  So, what are you choosing to use the rest of your life for?  Continuing to fight that pit is an awesome choice.  I hope that is what you will choose.  I will let you know how my choice is going.  I hope you will do the same.  Let's talk!!

Spotlight on Joe Hickey

This new father of premie baby boys is asking for some crowd funding help. Joe Hickey is a good friend of mine and needs our help. Please give whatever you can. Here is the link for your convenience. Thank you, God Bless.

SAGINAW, MI -- Saginaw author Joe Hickey is a busy man.
He is a new father of twin boys, who works a full-time job in retail sales and spends his free time pursuing his passion for writing.
Hickey's latest project, "Secret Seekers Society and the Wrath of Wendigo," is his fifth book and the third in his "Secret Seekers Society" series. He expects to release it by June.
"I'm just finishing up the last two chapters of the book," he said.
Hickey books
The 33-year-old graduate of Arthur Hill High School and Saginaw Valley State University, who publishes his work under the name J.L. Hickey, specializes in young adult fantasy. His "Secret Seeker Society" books are centered around a set of orphans, based on his niece and nephew, who become involved with a secret society of monster hunters.
He recently launched a Kickstarter campaign to help fund the publication of his latest work. It's an approach he has taken three times before.
According to Hickey, his work to promote himself as an independent author has paid off recently.
"It's been a really good year for me," he said. "I've been networking like crazy."
In August, Hickey had a book signing at The Barnes and Nobel location in Saginaw Township. He sold out of books during the event.
"Barnes and Noble has already invited me back," Hickey said. "I want to have a release party for the new book."
Another milestone came in November, when the second book in his series, "Secret Seekers Society and the Beast of Bladenboro" snagged the eighth place spot in the World's Best Story contest.
Hickey is also having some success with Amazon.
"My first book is off and on Amazon best-sellers list," he said.
He is started to see some income from the Amazon sales. When Hickey did a free giveaway of his last release, he subsequently sold hundreds of copies of his first book in the "Secret Seekers Society" series.
"That doesn't sound like a lot, but compared to the competition it's a lot," he said. "I'm doing really well for an independent author."
All that stands in the way of his release of "Secret Seekers Society and the Wrath of Wendigo" is $1,600 that will finance the finishing touches.
"What this Kickstarter really does is it pays for editing, formatting and the cover art," he said.
As of Friday, Feb. 13, the campaign had gained pledges totaling $659, which is more than 40 percent of the goal. Pledges are accepted until 11:23 a.m. Sunday, March 1.
While Hickey continues to put his own money into producing the books, family, friends and strangers have contributed more than $3,000 to help finance the previous two "Secret Seekers Society" books.
"About 50 percent of the people I know," he said. "And the other half are fans of mine that I've met through networking."
With a goal of writing three more installments in the series within the next 3 years, Hickey hopes his book sales will eventually completely finance his upcoming projects.
"I will finish this series," he said.

Author Spotlight - JamieLynn Boothe

Here is my interview with:
Author JamieLynn Boothe!

1. Is being an Author what you thought you would do with your life?
Oh yes, I have been wanting to be a published author for many years. I am loving everything about it. I love creating fiction, hearing the feedback from my fans, having fans, and when the financial benefits start happening, I’m going to love that too.
2. What made you decide to be an Author?
Like I said I have always wanted to, but about three years ago I finally got tired of not following my dream. One day I looked at my computer and said that it’ll never get written unless I start it. So, I sat down and started. I haven’t looked back since.

3. What would you tell any new authors that are breaking into the business?
Well, never stop working on your dream. No matter how good or bad you think you may be, never stop. Also write every day. Even if it’s only one paragraph, write something. Believe in yourself. That’s the most important thing for me.

4. What is the strangest thing you have written about?
I have started a horror story about a haunted house, but I haven’t finished it yet.
5. What is the hardest part of being an author? Being my worst critic. I am very hard on myself.

6. Do you love what you do?
With all of my heart and soul. It’s my passion and helps me keep going a lot of days. Sometimes it’s through writing poetry.

7. Do you have a family?
I have siblings and my Mother lives in North Carolina, but I am single with no children.

8. What was your first published work?
Nightmares and Dreams

9. What are you currently working on?
Can you share any of it with us? I’m currently writing the third novel in the Nightmares and Dreams Trilogy. All I’m going to say about it right now is that like the second novel, Dark Moments and Silver Linings, it will have some steamy love scenes, but more detailed, however some people may be upset with me. I can’t say why, sorry.

10. New release book cover?
Dark Moments and Silver Linings has one yes.

11. Have you ever wanted to quit writing? If so why?
There’s been times I have gotten frustrated and doubted myself, but deep down I haven’t wanted to quit.

12. What genres do you write?
Mainly romance, but I recently published a paranormal romance short story that I will be writing a novel about with someone else, also after that with that same friend we plan on writing a historical romance series together.

13. Anything else you would like to share?
Be ready to cry, I love writing something to touch the heart and soul, but also to excite you.

14. Share with us your links. (Facebook, Tumbler, Twitter, Instagram, Etc)

ON OUR HEADS

There are more shrines than humans
Yet we are dying like the frogs!
We carry weakness on our heads
And shout “all men are frauds”!
Our actions are based on selfishness
Everything is hidden by
ourselves!

We are knowingly imprison ourselves
And we lose our own happiness!
Our knowledge will destroy our miseries
All knowledge comes from our mind!
Ignorance is the mother of all miseries
The infinite library is in our mind!
Some people are like dog’s curly tail
You don’t try to straighten them!
Whatever they own, misfits are nil
Wise life and virtue are the same!
Every act of love brings us happiness
Selfishness hinders our progress!
Help others without asking questions!
You can be standard of the universe!

Broken Dreams

 " Broken Dreams"
As children bring their broken toys
with tears for us to mend.
I brought my broken dreams to God
                            Because he was my friend.

But then instead of leaving him in peace to work alone I hung around and tried to help with ways that were my own

At last I snatched then back and cried
how could u be so slow
                               My child he said
What could I do you never did let go

Blog Tour for Treasured Land - Melanie Corona

On Patrick Griffin’s deathbed, he asks his daughter Brigid to do the unthinkable--leave the Township of Melbourne with a dangerous convict. If she grants his request and risks trekking into the desert with a stranger, she could lose everything she’s come to know. Ultimately, she could end up alone, with nothing but her father’s memory.

After being thrown into jail, Nathaniel O'Connor comes out of the experience bitter and ready to leave the gold rush life well and truly behind him. He is determined to take for himself what he feels Patrick Griffin has stolen from him. The only thing standing between him and his goal is Patrick’s headstrong daughter, Brigid.

Forced to work together, Brigid and Nathaniel embark on the journey of a lifetime. Traveling across the vast, unexplored countryside, they face not only the elements but also a ruthless man driven by shocking greed. Their challenges draw them together, and their experiences could not only change their outlook on life forever but turn their hearts to one another as well.

Sometimes, though, what the heart needs and what the heart wants are two different things. Each has a choice to make, which may result in a loss neither wants, that of a Treasured Land.

Brigid wanted to hold her breath in anticipation, silently praying they could make it past all the tents and men, without a scene. Harmonicas sounded out here and there through the night, played by the men who were winding down from a long day in the sun. The air was crisp and clear, with only the lingering scent of fires from supper floating on the light breeze. Stars littered the dark sky, lighting their way yet concealing them in the shadow of night. It was almost enough to put her to sleep. She was tired, and again they were on the run, but this time toward Melbourne. Life certainly hadn’t been the same for her since meeting Nathaniel, and she had a feeling it wasn’t ever going to be, either.

Coming over the top to stand near the trees, Brigid wanted to scream. She dropped to the ground as quickly as she could to lie on her stomach, afraid she might have been spotted already. Brigid could see the outline of a man with his arms held above his head. He hung from a rope tied up to a tree branch. Two white trees like the ones she laid between, these two were also standing on their own with nothing else around them. It was Nathaniel hanging there. It had to be, and he wasn’t alone. Someone sat at the base of the other tree, keeping guard. She didn’t know if they were alone or if anyone else was around. She would have to wait it out for a while to see. She wasn’t equipped with anything she could use to help Nathaniel, so she needed to think on what to do. Brigid was both so scared and overjoyed at actually finding Nathaniel that she couldn’t do more than simply lay there anyway, her mind racing in too many directions.

Welcome to the land, our home. Be welcome to pass by here,” Sam said, his voice coming in just after the old man spoke to them. They continued that way, the old man talking with Sam interpreting what was said. “The welcome dance also awakens the spirits of our ancestors. They welcome you, too. We want to tell you a story, a story that has changed the lives of this people.”

Nathaniel turned to look at Brigid at the same time she turned to him. They both had no idea where this was going to lead, but the old man had their attention, and all they could do was listen.

Melanie Corona was born in Darwin in the Northern Territory of Australia, and raised in Alice Springs (the very centre of the country). She has always loved reading and telling "tall tales" and wrote poetry all the time. Her greatest influence was her grandpa Majid who kept all the grandchildren entertained, constantly, with his stories, music and passion for writing.

Melanie didn't tell anyone she wrote when she started because she was too shy, and now, has no idea why she was like that. She has stories to tell and wants to share them with whoever will read them. “I am not, and never will profess to be an awesome writer, but I will try to entertain, while bringing to life the history of my country, one page at a time.
