SPOTLIGHT ON TINA BASS

Author Interview

Author Name: Tina Bass
State where you live: Virginia
A Little about yourself:
Let's see a little about me. I'm getting ready to 'get away' for summer vacation with my best friend. A week of just girl time! Actually I've been ready since the first snow flake fell, but then again I'm not a winter person. But it's not all fun and games. The setting is a lake house that just 'happens' to play into The Safe Series story lines.
  1. Is being an Author what you thought you would do with your life?
Honestly, it was the last thing I ever thought I would do.
  1. What made you decide to be an Author?
I don’t know if I ‘decided’ to do it or not. As long as I can remember I’ve always had “stories” in my head, but never thought that much about. I just assumed everyone did. Then I jokingly made a comment about writing a book to a friend of mine. She told me that if I did she would help me all she could. So I sat down and just started writing and before I knew it, His Safe Keeping, was published.
  1. What would you tell any new authors that are breaking into the business?
I’m pretty new myself, so I still have so much to learn, but I would say that if you can’t spend a lot of time (or money) on writing, editing, advertising, promoting, and just getting your work out there, then I would consider looking into going with a publishing company. And, keep writing!!
  1. What is the strangest thing you have written about?
Well if you ask anyone who has known me since school age then every one of them (including me) would say the whole process of me writing is strange. All through school, and even years after, I never liked reading. It has only been in the past five or six years that I started to enjoy reading. So for me to not only write a book, but to now be working on my third book, that is very strange. But, it’s a good kind of strange.
  1. What is the hardest part of being an author?
Finding the time to write. Some days I have so much going on that I barely have the time to write a sentence. And at times I sit down to write for “just a little while,” and before I know it hours have passed and it’s way past my bed time. Of course, I end up paying for that the next day. I’m way too old to pull an all-nighter.
  1. Do you love what you do?
I do. I truly love putting the stories that are in my head on paper and sharing them.
  1. Do you have a family?
Yes. I have three children of my own. Three that feel like my own; and four (and one on the way), grandbabies.
  1. What was your first published work?
His Safe Keeping.
  1. What are you currently working on? Can you share any of it with us?
Right now I’m working on book 3 of the Safe Series, Safe in the Storm. Yep, it’s Storm’s turn, and everyone who has read Safe With Him has already met Storm. Now there will be more of Storm, and Storm and Bree’s past, as well as what happened with Lizzy.
  1. New release book cover?
TINA BASS Teaser
My newest is Safe With Him, book 2 of The Safe Series:
  1. Have you ever wanted to quit writing? If so, why?
Not yet, lol. Then again, I’m still very new. But, I really don’t see me wanting to quit any time soon. I’ve got too many stories still to share.
  1. What genres do you write?
Contemporary romance with a light erotic touch.
  1. Anything else you would like to share?
Next month my small little town, Appomattox, will be having a five-day sesquicentennial celebration, to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Lee's surrender to Grant, which ended the Civil War.
  1. Give us some unusual fun facts about you.
I don’t know how “unusual” it is because for me, it’s pretty normal, but I’m a true sweet freak. And I say freak because I freakin love sweets. I eat some kind of sweet, usually in the candy variety, every single day. I have, on numerous occasions, bought birthday cake; just because. Just because I love birthday cake. My kids are used to this so they think nothing of seeing birthday cake in the house when it’s not even close to being anyone-that-we-know’s birthday. But, hey, every day is someone’s birthday. So I’m just helping them celebrate.
